Let’s Meet: Hanne

Hanne is the researcher for Studio Deloryan. Starting out as a volunteer moderator for our game Horse Reality, and 2.5 years later getting a job as a researcher here! Think of her as the person to go to when you want to know anything about horses.

What is your job at Studio Deloryan?

As a researcher, I'm responsible for looking into all the different horse breeds and their colour genetics. How does the inheritance work, what do the different colours and patterns look like,... I keep up-to-date with the latest research and newest colour discoveries and look for ways to apply them into the game! Next to that, I also take care of the wiki, making sure its information is accurate and useful for the players.

Why did you want to work here?

I love both horses and science, so when I got the chance to do a job that combines both with an awesome team I didn't hesitate a second. I already played and loved the game as well, and it's amazing to be able to work together with a small but dedicated team to create something big.

What is your favourite thing about working here?

The team and the work atmosphere are amazing, everyone is fun to work with and equally passionate about making a great game. Even though most people work from home, it feels like a close group. The flexibility working from home brings with it is also great, and makes you more productive.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

When I'm not dealing with pixel ponies, I love to spend time with my real horses. It's a great way to get outside, relax and have fun. I mainly do trick training and also ride now and then. I used to do show jumping, but nowadays I prefer to take things less seriously. In the evening, I enjoy playing some games with my boyfriend and friend group.

Strategy, turn based, survival and building games are mostly my cup of tea. I'm terrible at directions, however. I'm also trying to learn Korean and I love to cosy up and just listen to some k-pop or watch a k-drama with some snacks!
